Agartala, Sep 21 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, called upon the youth on Sunday to spearhead a mass movement against drug abuse. He highlighted that the state government is actively implementing a range of initiatives aimed at transforming Tripura into a ‘Nasha Mukt’ (drug-free) state.
During the Namo Yuva Run marathon, the Chief Minister emphasized the government's core objective of fostering a ‘Nasha Mukt’ Tripura.
In pursuit of this goal, the Tripura Pradesh Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the ruling BJP, organized this event to educate the public, particularly the youth, about the devastating impacts of drugs.
“As part of the celebrations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday, we are observing a 15-day Seva Pakhwada with numerous social service initiatives. Many programs are being conducted statewide under the guidance of our central leadership,” Saha stated.
He noted that around 65 percent of the population consists of youth, which is an invaluable asset.
“If we can harness this potential effectively, the advancement and growth of our nation cannot be hindered, and this is the vision that PM Modi inspires us to embrace,” Saha remarked.
The Chief Minister added that PM Modi consistently seeks input from the populace regarding the nation's development.
From September 17 to October 2, the Seva Pakhwada is observed, during which the Namo Yuva Run was a key event organized by the Yuva Morcha.
“We are implementing various measures to ensure Tripura becomes Nasha Mukt, and I urge the youth to step up for a collective movement to recognize the perils of addiction. Drugs can devastate families and communities. We have witnessed the shortcomings of past administrations; however, since 2018, law enforcement and security agencies have intensified actions by seizing narcotics and apprehending drug traffickers. The level of destruction has escalated. It is crucial for the youth to rise against such challenges,” he asserted.
Among those present were Rajya Sabha member and BJP state President Rajib Bhattacharjee, Yuva Morcha President and MLA Sushanta Deb, MLA Sambhu Lal Chakma (General Secretary, Yuva Morcha), Bhagaban Das (General Secretary), and Sports Council Secretary Sukanta Ghosh.
