Kolkata, Sep 22 (NationPress) Tragically, a police Constable lost his life while two others sustained serious injuries in a road mishap near Eco Park in New Town, Kolkata, on Sunday night, as reported by the police on Monday morning.
The late Constable has been identified as Jyotish Debnath (38), who was serving at the Eco Park Police Station under the jurisdiction of Biddhannagar Police Commissionerate. Along with him, a civic volunteer and a motorcyclist were severely hurt and remain in critical condition.
The incident took place around 10:30 P.M. near Gate No. 2 of Eco Park, where Debnath and a civic volunteer were conducting a patrol on bicycles.
According to police reports, a speeding vehicle collided with the Constable, resulting in grave injuries. Despite immediate transport to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival. Medical personnel indicated that excessive bleeding was the cause of death.
In addition to Debnath, a civic volunteer named Sunil Rajbhar and a motorcyclist were injured in the incident and are currently receiving medical care. The police have retrieved two bicycles and the motorcycle involved in the collision. Authorities have cordoned off the area.
