What Awards Did Tripura CM Announce in Honor of Syama Prasad Mookerjee?

Agartala, July 6 (NationPress) In a significant announcement, Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha revealed two prestigious awards named after Syama Prasad Mookerjee and confirmed that the Agartala Town Hall will be rebranded in his honor, accompanied by the installation of a marble statue.

Speaking at the celebration of the 125th birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the Chief Minister stated that, through the initiative of the Education Department, the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Award will be awarded to individuals who excel in teaching, with the first presentation scheduled for Teachers' Day.

Additionally, on Mookerjee's next birth anniversary, the Information and Cultural Affairs Department will present the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Excellence Award to individuals who have made remarkable contributions to social, political, national service, and administrative spheres.

“I am pleased to announce the renaming of the Agartala Town Hall in honor of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, with a marble statue to be erected in front of the hall,” stated Saha, who also oversees the Information and Cultural Affairs and Education Departments.

Saha emphasized the importance of commemorating this day annually at both governmental and community levels. “The ideals and principles of Syama Prasad Mookerjee remain pertinent today. It is essential to grasp his philosophy of life and to further explore his contributions to society,” he remarked. He noted that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office in 2014, a transformation has been evident in India's social framework, echoing the philosophies of esteemed historical figures.

Furthermore, Saha highlighted that Modi is reiterating Mookerjee's emphasis on social reforms. He reflected on the nation's journey post-independence, stating, “The foundations of our economy and the clarity of our social structure were lacking, leading to stagnation in development.”

“The Prime Minister advocates for Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, and Sabka Vishwas,” he added.

Recognizing the numerous great individuals born in India, Saha noted the importance of celebrating their legacies and sacrifices. He asserted that the state is advancing by adhering to the vision of Syama Prasad Mookerjee for a united India.

The Chief Minister concluded by stating that Prime Minister Modi is committed to fostering self-reliance as per Mookerjee's guidance, focusing on the economic empowerment of the nation and implementing social reforms, such as the abolition of triple talaq for Muslim women. He assured that the state government is aligning with the central government's directives to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the most marginalized in society, prioritizing effective governance at the grassroots level.
