Agartala, Sep 14 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, called upon the public on Sunday to initiate a mass movement aimed at raising awareness and engaging in discussions concerning critical issues such as drug addiction, HIV, and AIDS. He assured that the government would provide its full support in these efforts.
While addressing the 44th Foundation Day and Blood Donation Camp organized by Nikhil Tripura Mahanam Sevak Sangha at a temple in Agartala, he emphasized that voluntary blood donation not only conveys a vital message but also inspires others to contribute. “By donating blood voluntarily, we can encourage a culture of giving,” he remarked.
He further highlighted the urgent need for a public movement and awareness campaigns focusing on addiction, HIV, and AIDS. The government is ready to extend all possible assistance in these initiatives. “There is no substitute for blood,” Saha stated, noting that various organs, including kidneys and livers, can be transplanted as well.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of discussions to unite the community against the threats posed by drug abuse and illegal drug trade. “We need to collaborate to strengthen our society,” he added, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his commitment to the welfare of the people, particularly the underprivileged.
Regarding women's empowerment, Saha mentioned that in Tripura, out of 4.85 lakh women affiliated with over 50,000 Self Help Groups (SHGs), 1,08,281 have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’ through their entrepreneurial ventures.
The number of women-led SHGs is steadily rising. “We must publicize these positive changes and support the government’s initiatives. Promoting entrepreneurship is vital as numerous opportunities exist,” he remarked. He also condemned malevolent practices, asserting that many individuals have resisted such behaviors. “Prime Minister Modi has been actively working to revive our nation’s rich culture and history,” he noted.
Saha asserted that anyone aspiring to achieve success must proceed with a clear vision. “People should act with purpose, as this will lead to self-discovery,” he added. He also mentioned India’s progress in various sectors, including the economy and infrastructure.
“We have moved from the 11th to the 4th position globally in economic standing. Under Modi’s leadership, we aim to transform India into a Viksit Bharat by 2047, ensuring that every household experiences development and increased per capita income,” he concluded.
