Agartala, March 29 (NationPress) Chief Minister Manik Saha of Tripura declared on Sunday that the state has maintained its position as the leader in participation in Mann Ki Baat, a monthly radio show hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During his remarks after the 132nd episode of the show at Barjala, close to Agartala, the Chief Minister emphasized the program's focus on innovative strategies to ensure drinking water supply to marginalized communities.
He expressed his pride that Prime Minister Modi specifically acknowledged the achievements of Vanghmun, located in the mountainous region of Jampui Hills, North Tripura, for its remarkable success in providing water access.
“Previously, residents of Vanghmun encountered severe difficulties in obtaining drinking water. Today, thanks to innovative solutions, that problem has been resolved, which brings pride to Tripura,” Saha stated.
The Chief Minister pointed out that the program serves as a vital platform for the Prime Minister to share valuable insights from across India, addressing various subjects, including health awareness, agriculture, fisheries, and sports.
He noted that discussions promoting reduced oil consumption and the importance of regular physical activity, especially among the youth, are particularly pertinent.
Saha also underscored the positive effects of central welfare initiatives, such as free electricity schemes, which have significantly benefited rural areas and refugee communities by enhancing education and agricultural productivity.
Highlighting advancements under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Chief Minister stated that Tripura has escalated its coverage from a mere 3% in 2018 to about 86% today.
The BJP-led government took charge in Tripura for the first time in 2018, overthrowing the CPI (M) led Left Front after 35 years.
He expressed confidence that the state will soon reach 100% coverage under the Jal Jeevan Mission, despite the challenges posed by limited natural water sources.
“Through innovative planning and consistent effort, we are committed to achieving complete success in the Jal Jeevan Mission in the near future,” he added.
Several prominent leaders and party members, including Kalyani Saha Roy, the Chief Whip of the state Assembly, were in attendance at the event.
