Indore, Sep 23 (NationPress) In a devastating incident, two individuals lost their lives and six others sustained injuries in a road mishap that occurred in the Umarban Chowki region of Madhya Pradesh, as reported by officials on Tuesday.
On Monday night, a pickup truck transporting agricultural workers returning from soybean harvesting overturned near the Mohanpura culvert at the Mohanpur (Umarban) turn. This unfortunate event resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to several others.
The vehicle, which was reportedly overloaded with workers from the villages of Jamla and Latamli, lost control and plunged off the bridge while en route from Toki to Umarban.
According to Vijay Dabur, Additional Superintendent of Police in Dhar district, the deceased have been identified as Govind (35) and Krishna (19), both residents of Jamla. Govind passed away during treatment at Umarban Hospital, while Krishna succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
A total of 20 individuals were reported injured. Among the severe cases are Shyambai (50), Durga (20), and Kunwarsingh, all from Latamli. From Jamla village, the injured included Anil (15), Galsingh (35), and Ramesh (37), the son of Nanuram Pachaya. Several others, including women and children, suffered varying degrees of injuries, the official stated.
Eyewitnesses recounted scenes of chaos as the truck overturned, prompting local residents to rush to the scene and transport the injured to hospitals in Umarban and Manawar using private vehicles and 108 ambulances.
After receiving initial treatment, six critically injured individuals were transferred to Dhar and Dhamnod District Hospitals for more comprehensive care.
This accident has deeply affected the community, with mourning spreading across the affected villages. The families of the deceased are devastated, and the community is struggling with this sudden loss.
Police quickly arrived at the accident site, seized the pickup truck, and have initiated an investigation into the matter. “We are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the accident, including whether overloading or mechanical failure played a role,” the ASP confirmed.
