Patna, April 19 (NationPress) A tragic road accident on National Highway 27 (NH-27) at the Kanti flyover in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district resulted in the loss of two lives, including a woman, on Saturday.

Additionally, one individual sustained injuries in this incident.

The accident, which involved a head-on collision between two motorcycles, a car, and two heavy trucks, occurred around noon.

Officials stated that the crash was instigated by ongoing construction of an elevated roadway, which has led to one lane being closed, compelling traffic from both directions into a single, narrow lane.

Local residents and authorities have expressed persistent concerns over the increased risk of accidents caused by such conditions.

Ramnath Prasad, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kanti police station, verified the details of the accident.

“The victims were riding a motorcycle when the accident unfolded. It involved two trucks, two motorcycles, and a car on the Kanti flyover in the district,” Prasad stated.

After the collision, traffic was halted as a large crowd assembled at the scene. Police utilized a crane to remove the wreckage and restore traffic flow after a delay of three hours.

The injured individual was initially transported to a local hospital before being referred to Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) for advanced care.

The deceased bodies were sent for post-mortem examination. One victim has been identified as a resident of the Mithanpura police station area in Muzaffarpur.

The identity of the second victim is still unconfirmed, and police are working to contact family members.

“All vehicles involved in the collision have been seized, and an investigation is currently in progress,” Prasad added.

This accident has ignited public outrage, with locals demanding immediate compensation for the families of the deceased, improved traffic management during ongoing construction, installation of speed breakers, and continuous police monitoring in the affected area.

Residents emphasized that allowing two-way traffic on a single lane amid construction is exceedingly perilous and urged authorities to take swift action to prevent further loss of life.
