Udhampur, Dec 30 (NationPress) The District Employment and Counselling Centre recently held a comprehensive entrepreneurship-cum-awareness mela under the auspices of Mission YUVA, aimed at fostering self-employment and an enterprising mindset among women and self-help groups (SHGs).
The initiative, executed in partnership with the Udhampur district administration, sought to enlighten and motivate local women to pursue and leverage self-employment prospects through various government-supported entrepreneurship development programs.
The event was officially inaugurated by Additional District Development Commissioner Vinod Kumar Anand along with other officials. Numerous departmental booths were established by different entities to enhance awareness among participants regarding the initiative.
Initially, Assistant Director Employment Priyanka Gupta provided an extensive overview of Mission YUVA, emphasizing its goals, features, and the support systems available for budding entrepreneurs.
A participant expressed gratitude, stating, "The entire framework of Mission YUVA has been set up here. I want to thank the government and the Prime Minister for bringing us to this juncture and empowering us."
ADDC Udhampur Jugal Kishore remarked, "In Mission YUVA, Udhampur leads among all districts in the state. We are also informing college and institute students about the opportunities and guidance for their future. Mission YUVA is a flagship initiative, and we are striving to expand it across all sectors. Special grants have been allocated for women under this initiative."
It is important to note that Mission YUVA is a pivotal program aimed at transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a flourishing hub for entrepreneurship and employment. Given the region's high unemployment rates due to limited private sector opportunities, the program aims to equip the youth and women with diverse skill sets, preparing them as a future-ready workforce.
Various ministries, government bodies, and educational institutions are actively involved in promoting experiential learning—a concept that combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, effectively preparing the youth for future challenges.
