The exhibition featured real-life case studies that illustrated common tactics employed by fraudsters and the serious repercussions of falling prey to visa scams.
Students were educated about the perils of irregular migration, which can lead to financial losses, exploitation, and even a potential 10-year travel ban to the UK. Rajinder S Nagarkoti, Senior Adviser for Political, Media, and Migration at the British High Commission, also engaged with the students, sharing critical insights about the ‘Visa Fraud Ton Bacho’ campaign and urging them to stay alert and informed.
During the event, officials from the British High Commission introduced a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot (+91 70652 51380) that offers verified information on UK travel in English, Hindi, and Punjabi.
This platform assists users in identifying fraudulent activities and accessing genuine information regarding safe and legal travel routes.
Commending the initiative, Dr. Ekta Khosla underscored that awareness serves as a powerful tool to protect youth from visa fraud, asserting that such initiatives empower students to make informed, responsible, and secure choices concerning their future overseas.
This initiative is in alignment with the India-UK Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement, showcasing a joint commitment to combat irregular migration and promote safe mobility.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Rama Sharma, with assistance from Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda, the Coordinator of Global Linkages.
In a cultural addition, students from the Music Vocal Department showcased a “Folk Guldasta,” while the Music Instrumental Department performed a folk orchestra under the guidance of Dr. Prem Sagar and Dr. Gunjan.
