Bhopal, Nov 24 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and prominent BJP figure Uma Bharti revealed on Monday that she encountered trolling with “threatening tones” on social media after expressing her disapproval regarding a proposed mosque named after the Mughal emperor Babur in West Bengal.
Bharti mentioned on X that her team has reported the threats to the Madhya Pradesh Intelligence Bureau.
“Upon responding to the announcement of constructing a structure named after Babur in West Bengal, I received trolling that carried a threatening tone. This is not uncommon, and my office routinely informs the Intelligence Bureau of Madhya Pradesh,” Bharti stated on X.
“I have full confidence in the Intelligence Bureau. Should there be any genuine threat, they will take appropriate action,” she added.
On the previous day, Bharti had asserted that any initiative to establish a mosque in Babur's name would “face the same outcome as Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.”
She made it clear that mosques intended for worship in Islam would be respected, but those named after Babur would not.
The veteran BJP leader, instrumental in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, was reacting to remarks made by Trinamool Congress leader Humayun Kabir, who announced plans to construct a “Babri Masjid” in West Bengal.
Bharti called on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to take action against such statements, urging, “You hold a responsibility for the honor and harmony of both Bengal and the nation.”
