Patna, Feb 1 (NationPress) The Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, unveiled the Union Budget for 2025-26 in Parliament, outlining various significant initiatives for Bihar.

However, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has expressed strong disapproval of the budget, labeling it as disappointing and hollow. He criticized the government for overlooking Bihar's essential needs and claimed that the budget lacks any special provisions for the state.

“Bihar is facing unjust treatment and is being misled with empty promises. There is no unique package for Bihar. The budget simply reiterates previous commitments without any real execution,” Yadav stated.

He contended that the budget does not cater to the necessities of rural areas. He raised concerns about the increasing railway fares, noting that no relief has been offered.

Tejashwi Yadav also highlighted the ambiguity surrounding Greenfield airports. He questioned the compensation arrangements for farmers whose lands will be appropriated for airport development.

“The Central government has displayed a step-motherly attitude towards Bihar. While Andhra Pradesh, under CM Chandrababu Naidu, received a package of ₹1 lakh crore, Bihar has not obtained any substantial aid,” the RJD leader remarked.

He criticized CM Nitish Kumar for failing to advocate for special state status for Bihar, despite having previously supported this cause.

Yadav further mentioned that as elections draw near, the government tends to make grand promises, yet there is a lack of a solid action plan for Bihar's advancement.

While the central administration touts these budget announcements as a boost for Bihar's growth, opposition figures assert that the state remains marginalized.

With elections approaching, the discussion surrounding Bihar's economic priorities is likely to escalate.

During the presentation of the Union Budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the establishment of the Makhana Board in Bihar and the expansion of IIT Patna through the enhancement of its infrastructure and academic programs to promote higher education and research.

She also revealed the creation of the National Food Technology Institute in Bihar. A specific budget has been allocated for the development of the Western Kosi Canal, the upgradation of Bihta Airport and Patna Airport to accommodate increased passenger traffic and enhance infrastructure, along with the construction of three new Greenfield airports in Bihar.
