Lucknow, Nov 14 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting on Friday with Deepti Sharma, the celebrated player of the state's World Cup-winning Women's Cricket Team. During this gathering, he also chaired a Cabinet meeting that resulted in 20 significant decisions, including reforms aimed at simplifying the registration process for old age pensions, as confirmed by an official.
Chief Minister Adityanath commended Sharma, who currently serves as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), for her outstanding contributions in the World Cup final, where she secured the Player of the Tournament title.
“Deepti has indeed brought pride to the Uttar Pradesh Police on an international platform,” CM Adityanath expressed in a tweet following the women’s cricket team’s World Cup triumph on November 2.
Sharma was appointed as DSP in January this year under the sports quota as part of CM Adityanath’s Skilled Athlete Scheme.
During the Cabinet meeting at the CM’s residence, Adityanath led his colleagues in congratulating the women’s cricket team for their remarkable achievement.
The Cabinet also expressed its disapproval of the fatal blast in Delhi that occurred on November 10.
One of the critical decisions made at the meeting was aimed at alleviating the burden on the elderly regarding pension applications.
The Cabinet resolved that the social welfare department would assign call center representatives to reach out to beneficiaries and assist them in completing their forms online through common service centers.
To ensure the verification process is efficient, family IDs will be used prior to releasing pensions, thus sparing the elderly from unnecessary hassle.
This pilot initiative will be implemented in five districts, namely Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Kannauj, and Lalitpur, according to an official.
Currently, the system mandates that an online application for pension by an elderly individual must be verified by both the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the village Block Development Officer before gaining approval from the committee led by the District Magistrate.
An official indicated that the proposed new system would expedite the entire procedure.
The initiative is designed to assist all seniors aged 60 and above with an annual income of Rs 56,460 or less in urban settings and Rs 46,080 or less in rural areas.
The Cabinet also sanctioned a scheme to offer car loans to employees of the judicial services.
Additional decisions by the Cabinet included the approval of a private university in Shahjahanpur and a favorable rate revision for cane procurement.
