Lucknow, April 26 (NationPress) The government led by Yogi Adityanath is making significant strides to evolve Uttar Pradesh into a $1 trillion economy. Central to this ambitious vision are key sectors, with the health sector being recognized as a vital component of economic progress.

The Chief Minister asserts that a healthy population is essential for a thriving state. To support this, a detailed strategy has been developed to establish healthcare as a crucial driver of development.

During a recent high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted that an effective strategy could generate an economic impact (Gross State Value Added-GSVA) of around Rs 0.40 lakh crore through substantial investments in the health sector. He pointed out two main areas of focus: enhancing healthcare infrastructure and bolstering public health initiatives.

To improve infrastructure, three major plans have been introduced: the creation of new health and wellness centres, promoting private investments in secondary care hospitals, and embracing digital technologies such as telemedicine.

These initiatives alone are anticipated to contribute nearly Rs 0.39 lakh crore in GSVA. Officials informed the Chief Minister that potential sites for 5,000 new health and wellness centres have already been earmarked using the PM GatiShakti Portal and GIS mapping. These centres aim to fill gaps in primary healthcare accessibility, especially in rural and isolated areas.

To enhance secondary healthcare, the Yogi government has sanctioned a policy to encourage private-sector investment through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Concurrently, the government is making substantial progress in advancing digital healthcare efforts, including the establishment of a state-wide telemedicine hub to improve healthcare delivery with advanced technology.

Beyond infrastructure, the government is amplifying its focus on extending the reach and effectiveness of public health schemes. Strengthening these initiatives could contribute an estimated Rs 0.01 lakh crore in GSVA. Currently, 43 percent of the population benefits from the Ayushman Bharat scheme, with efforts underway to increase this to 63 percent by integrating health services with ration card data.

The government is also laying the groundwork to enhance pharmaceutical research and health data analytics. Eleven medical colleges are being equipped for drug trials and research, while artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies are being utilized to improve data-driven healthcare delivery.

To elevate the quality of private healthcare, the state is formulating regulatory frameworks and a grading system for private hospitals. An advisory board has been established to oversee these initiatives, ensuring improved service delivery and reinforcing the AI-based health analytics ecosystem.

With these comprehensive measures, the Yogi government is paving the way for Uttar Pradesh’s health sector to play a crucial role in realizing the state’s $1 trillion economy vision.
