Yogi Adityanath courts Singapore investors for UP manufacturing, logistics and green energy push
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on 28 October 2026 pitched the state as a premier destination for Singaporean capital, meeting a 14-member delegation from the Singapore Business Federation in Lucknow and proposing collaboration across manufacturing, logistics, semiconductors, data centres, green energy and urban infrastructure. The Chief Minister assured investors of end-to-end government support — from the signing of Memorandums of Understanding to the commencement of production.
Key Developments from the Meeting
At the meeting, an eligibility certificate was handed over for one investment project, while MoUs were exchanged with two companies, marking concrete steps toward converting proposals into ground-level projects. Among the most prominent proposals was the development of a dedicated 'Singapore City' and a high-tech industrial township near the Noida International Airport in Jewar — a corridor expected to emerge as a major logistics gateway for North India.
Adityanath recalled his February 2026 visit to Singapore, noting that investment agreements worth approximately ₹60,000 crore had been reached during that trip. He reiterated the government's commitment to providing security, policy stability and timely project execution support for all incoming investors.
What Uttar Pradesh Is Offering
The Chief Minister outlined a substantial industrial foundation to attract foreign capital. The state holds a land bank of over 75,000 acres available for industrial use, with 27 integrated manufacturing and logistics clusters under development. The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor — spanning six nodes in Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh and Chitrakoot — has already attracted investment proposals exceeding ₹35,000 crore.
Adityanath highlighted that Uttar Pradesh accounts for approximately 55 per cent of India's mobile phone production and nearly 60 per cent of electronic component manufacturing. The state also contributes around 21 per cent of the country's foodgrain output, creating avenues for investment in food processing, packaging and exports.
Specific Projects Signed
Greater Nashik Infracon Private Limited, associated with Singapore-based Universal Success Enterprises Group, received an eligibility certificate for the allocation of 50 acres in Sector 8D of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area. The company plans to establish a Universal Packaging Hub with an investment of ₹775 crore, including foreign direct equity from Singapore, and is expected to generate 1,880 direct jobs.
Agricorp International signed an MoU to set up a manufacturing unit for soy protein isolate and chickpea protein concentrate, aimed at strengthening agricultural processing in the state. Separately, global waste management firm Blue Planet Environmental Solutions signed an MoU to treat approximately 7.5 lakh tonnes of legacy waste in Sector 145, Noida, and process fresh waste at a capacity of 350 tonnes per day in Saharanpur.
Sectors on the Investment Radar
Beyond manufacturing, Adityanath invited Singaporean investors to explore tourism and hospitality opportunities in Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura-Vrindavan, Prayagraj and along the Buddhist Circuit. Urban planning and smart city development — particularly for Lucknow, the State Capital Region and new townships — were also flagged as priority collaboration areas.
Jewar's expressway connectivity and its links to the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors were cited as strategic advantages that could position the region as a dominant supply chain hub for North India. The Chief Minister framed Singapore's technological capabilities and management expertise as complementing UP's large market, skilled workforce and expanding infrastructure.
Bigger Picture: UP's Trillion-Dollar Economy Ambition
This engagement is part of a wider strategy by the Yogi government to position Uttar Pradesh as a trillion-dollar state economy. The Singapore outreach follows a pattern of high-level investor roadshows — including the Global Investors Summit held in Lucknow in 2023 — that have sought to rebrand UP from a law-and-order-challenged hinterland to an investable industrial destination. Whether the latest MoUs translate into operational units will be the measure of success, with the government's stated priority being timely implementation over headline commitment numbers.
