Bhopal, Feb 17 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, emphasized on Monday that urban bodies must engage in unified efforts to boost their revenue streams to attain self-sufficiency for the welfare schemes directed towards the public.

CM Yadav pointed out that achieving economic independence for urban bodies will lead to renewed momentum in development, allowing them to initiate their own housing projects akin to those overseen by development authorities.

During a virtual gathering of the All India Council of Mayors' Madhya Pradesh unit, held in Indore, Chief Minister Yadav expressed his appreciation for the municipal corporations in the state for carving out a distinctive identity through their development initiatives.

He underscored the swift progress in comprehensive development within urban locales, particularly praising the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) for its exceptional achievements in cleanliness.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister remarked that recent years have seen new dimensions of development established in Indore, urging other urban entities in the state to pursue similar trajectories.

CM Mohan Yadav reiterated that Indore is advancing quickly in the realm of development.

"Indore has maintained its position at the top of the cleanliness rankings in the nation for the past seven years, and this year, the city is continuing its dedicated efforts to uphold this prestigious status. Indore has brought great honor to the state," he remarked.

The Urban Development Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kailash Vijayvargiya, who presided over the Mayor's assembly, advised urban bodies to fortify their taxation mechanisms.

He noted that following the 73rd and 74th amendments to the Constitution, local entities in Madhya Pradesh have been endowed with the utmost rights possible.

"New regulations (amendments) have been introduced to decentralize the local governance framework and ensure that these bodies are granted maximum authority," Vijayvargiya added.
