Indore, Sep 4 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav asserted on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has revitalized the principles of cleanliness, transforming them into a widespread movement that has long been embedded in India’s cultural heritage but was overlooked in modern times.
"Cleanliness has been ingrained in India’s traditions, daily practices, and values for centuries; however, it was neglected over the years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reinvigorated these principles, turning cleanliness into a nationwide movement," Yadav stated.
Chief Minister Yadav made these remarks during an event organized as part of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign in Indore, recognized as the cleanest city in India, on Thursday.
He took the opportunity to honor sanitation workers by sharing a meal with them, acknowledging their significant role in maintaining Indore’s top position in cleanliness rankings for eight consecutive years. He praised their hard work, dedication, and spirit of service.
Additionally, the Chief Minister inaugurated 50 new electric AC buses in Indore, launched by the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) with an investment of Rs 60 crore to enhance the city’s public transport system.
The civic body plans to operate a total of 150 electric buses, with 50 introduced in this initial phase. These buses will feature a digital payment system.
Yadav also revealed the ‘Swachhata Ka Mahaguru’ logo and recognized councillors for their exceptional contributions to cleanliness. He inaugurated the nation’s first ‘Zero Waste Zoo’ in Indore.
Later, during his address, the Indore Mayor highlighted the city’s comprehensive development characterized by innovative cleanliness initiatives and significant advancements in digital services over recent years.
Focusing on Indore’s developmental trajectory, Bhargava mentioned that the corporation has devised a roadmap aimed at development with a vision extending to 2050.
