Is CM Yogi's Green Vision Making Uttar Pradesh the Next Eco-Tourism Hub?

Lucknow, May 24 (NationPress) In alignment with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ambitious vision, the Forest and Wildlife Department of Uttar Pradesh is diligently working to establish the state as a premier eco-tourism destination.

Crucially, the department is dedicated to preserving the natural beauty and biodiversity of Uttar Pradesh while introducing new projects to foster sustainable tourism. One notable initiative is the ‘Buffer Mein Safar’ (journey through the buffer zones) scheme, designed to enhance tourist experiences within the buffer zones of the state’s tiger reserves.

As part of this significant initiative, new safari routes are being constructed in the buffer zones of Dudhwa, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, and North Kheri. Regions such as Bhira and Mohammadi are being assessed for fresh eco-tourism ventures. Additionally, the Forest and Wildlife department is training locals to take on roles such as guides, restaurant operators, and other tourism-related positions, thereby promoting local employment and skill development.

The impact of this initiative is already evident, with a notable increase in eco-tourism visitors to the state in recent years. Tourists can now enjoy safaris even during the monsoon season, as tiger reserves are being kept open for extended durations.

Beyond existing tiger reserves and wildlife sanctuaries, the Forest and Wildlife Department is broadening eco-tourism opportunities to new areas. In southern Kheri, tourist circuits are being developed in Gola, Mohammadi Range, and Bhira. The Semrai Lake, a renowned habitat for migratory birds, is also being integrated into the tourism circuit for birdwatching and nature excursions.

Moreover, jungle safaris have commenced in the buffer zone of Katarniaghat, located near the Nepal border. With its stunning natural landscapes, rich biodiversity, and plentiful wildlife, this area is anticipated to attract tourists seeking an immersive nature experience.

To bolster these initiatives, a modern information centre has been set up in the Dudhwa tourism complex. This centre aims to provide insights into local biodiversity, wildlife, and culture while raising awareness about environmental conservation. Training programs for nature guides, canteen staff, and cooks are also being conducted to guarantee high-quality services for tourists.

These initiatives are enhancing the skill sets of local youth and generating new employment and income opportunities. With continued efforts and visionary leadership, Uttar Pradesh is progressively positioning itself as a leading eco-tourism destination on both national and global stages.
