Varkala, Dec 30 (NationPress) Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan characterized the phrase "One Caste, One Religion, One God" as a profound and timeless declaration, asserting that Sree Narayana Guru was pivotal in steering society toward a brighter future.

He made these remarks while inaugurating the 93rd Sivagiri Theerthadanam conference at Sivagiri, a significant spiritual and social event in Kerala that honors the Guru's reformist teachings.

Vice-President Radhakrishnan emphasized that Sree Narayana Guru's principles have been instrumental in advancing society by confronting entrenched social divides.

"The Guru imparted the lesson that love is the highest form of faith," he stated, noting that the values and teachings of Sree Narayana Guru continue to resonate with generations and will maintain their relevance in the future.

He remarked that Sivagiri represents both mental and physical well-being, asserting that the Guru's primary mission was to elevate the human intellect.

"The Guru envisioned liberating individuals through education and knowledge," the Vice-President shared.

"His goal was to make learning and consciousness available to all, which was achieved through his life's work."

He stressed that the ideals championed by Sree Narayana Guru are not limited to a specific time period but transcend generations, aiding society in moving toward harmony, equality, and enlightenment.

The inaugural session was graced by notable figures including Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Union Minister Suresh Gopi, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, and State Minister M.B. Rajesh, among others.

The annual Sivagiri Theerthadanam festivities commenced earlier on Tuesday with the flag being raised by Swami Satchidananda, President of the Sivagiri Mutt.

Adding intellectual significance to the event, Shashi Tharoor's new book, 'The Sage Who Reimagined Hinduism: The Life, Lessons & Legacy of Sree Narayana Guru', was launched at the pilgrimage's inaugural venue.

The book was officially unveiled by Vice-President Radhakrishnan, who presented the first copy to Governor Arlekar during a ceremony at the Sivagiri Mutt in Varkala.

Tharoor's publication delves into the life and philosophy of Sree Narayana Guru and the transformative changes he initiated during the Kerala Renaissance, while also examining the Guru's broader influence on Hindu thought and social reform.

The intersection of spiritual dialogue, public leadership, and academic reflection at Sivagiri once more underscored the lasting significance of Sree Narayana Guru's message in today's India.
