Vadodara, March 30 (NationPress) The escalating traffic congestion in Vadodara has become a pressing issue, leading the city’s Traffic Department to seek out innovative solutions.

In a recent collaborative meeting at the District Sainik Welfare and Rehabilitation Office, the Vadodara Traffic Police consulted with former military personnel to explore road safety initiatives and traffic management tactics.

The main goal of this effort was to identify effective methods to alleviate traffic congestion and promote safer travel for the public.

The session highlighted the importance of discipline, accountability, and organized enforcement—traits that ex-servicemen can contribute. Their experiences and perspectives were recognized, with officials contemplating their potential roles in overseeing critical traffic areas.

As urban roads become more congested, compliance with traffic laws is essential.

Authorities pointed out that effective enforcement not only reduces accidents but also enhances overall traffic flow.

This meeting served as a platform to raise awareness about safe driving habits while also considering the inclusion of ex-army personnel in Vadodara’s traffic management framework.

An official remarked that there is a belief that with the assistance of trained individuals, road safety and traffic discipline in the city can see considerable improvement.

He mentioned that Gujarat is facing escalating traffic challenges, highlighted by a notable increase in road accidents and fatalities in recent years.

“From 2020 to 2022, the state recorded a rise in road accidents from 13,398 to 15,751, placing Gujarat as the 10th highest in road accidents compared to all states and union territories,” he stated.

The official emphasized that the gravity of these incidents is underscored by an average of 21 fatalities reported daily over the last three financial years.

“In particular, road accident deaths increased from 6,281 in 2020-21 to 7,656 in 2022-23, indicating an 18 percent rise. Ahmedabad, with the highest vehicle density in the state, faced a 59 percent increase in fatalities, from 312 deaths in 2020-21 to 496 in 2022-23,” he explained.

The official also noted that national highways running through Gujarat have been especially perilous.
