Bengaluru, Jan 19 (NationPress) In light of the recently circulated videos that depict inappropriate conduct with a woman in his office while in uniform, DGP K. Ramachandra Rao asserted that these videos are 'manipulated'. During a press briefing in Bengaluru on Monday, Rao expressed, “These are fabricated videos. No such event occurred. I plan to consult my lawyer and decide on the next steps.”

DGP Rao visited Home Minister G. Parameshwara’s office to clarify the situation. However, sources indicated that Parameshwara, via a staff member, declined to meet with him, prompting Rao to leave the premises.

Additionally, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed the Home Department to compile a report on this issue. This comes after the state administration previously faced scrutiny regarding allegations against DGP Rao related to a gold smuggling incident.

It is important to note that the videos in question, which show inappropriate behavior involving Ranya Rao's stepfather, DGP K. Ramachandra Rao, went viral on social media, causing significant embarrassment for the Karnataka Police Department.

The videos reportedly depict Ramachandra Rao in uniform within his official office, engaging in intimate actions with a woman. One clip shows him kissing her while seated in uniform, while another features him in a suit performing similar actions against the backdrop of the Indian flag and the emblem of the Police Department. The woman appears to be compliant in the videos.

Sources revealed that these recordings were made over a year ago, prior to Ranya Rao's arrest in the gold smuggling case.

The incidents were allegedly recorded via CCTV cameras installed in the office. Ramachandra Rao currently holds the position of Director General of Police at the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement (DCRE).

There have been ongoing rumors about videos involving a senior IPS officer, but the reasons behind their release at this time remain unclear.

The individuals responsible for disseminating the videos have obscured the woman's identity, added background music, and included captions before sharing them online.

Sources noted that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is distressed and has voiced his displeasure regarding the situation. Former Home Minister Araga Jnanendra commented that Rao's actions are a disgrace to the entire Police Department. He emphasized, “If a senior IPS officer can lower himself to this level, it is disheartening. Such officers should exemplify integrity and should not evade accountability.”

Earlier, the Karnataka government had placed Ramachandra Rao on mandatory leave in March 2025 due to the gold smuggling allegations but reinstated him recently. He is accused of colluding with Ranya Rao in the gold smuggling operations, prompting the government to initiate an investigation and request a report.

Ranya Rao was arrested for allegedly exploiting her stepfather Rao's name to bypass security protocols during gold smuggling operations.

Further developments are anticipated. The Police Department and Ramachandra Rao have yet to respond to this situation.
