Vijay Declares Rs 2 Lakh Ex Gratia for Families of Accident Victims

Chennai, Nov 28 (NationPress) Tamil film icon and head of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay, has declared a financial support of Rs 2 lakh to aid the families of those who tragically passed away in accidents during the party's first state conference.
The compensation will be distributed to the families of six deceased individuals.
Moreover, the TVK has pledged to extend additional financial help based on the economic conditions of the bereaved families.
The party also committed to covering the educational costs for the children of the victims.
The six individuals who lost their lives include advocate ‘Ghilli’ VL Srinivasan, the youth wing leader of Tiruchy South District JK Vijaykalai, the district’s vice-president, along with party supporters Vasanthakumar, Riyaz, Udayakumar, and Charles, all of whom succumbed to breathing issues during the event.
In his message of sympathy, K. Vijay expressed: “It is both shocking and heartbreaking that they are no longer with us. Their contributions to the party will forever be cherished. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and pray for the peace of their souls.”
It is noteworthy that over three lakh individuals, including fans and supporters from across Tamil Nadu, congregated at the venue for the inaugural state-level conference of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) on October 27, 2024.
While Vijay announced his political aspirations on February 2 this year by revealing his party's name, this event was significant as it marked his first political address delineating the party's principles and strategies.
Vijay articulated his vision for Tamil Nadu, sharing that he has a “grand plan” to elevate the state to a “new level.”
The actor's foray into politics is anticipated to make the 2026 elections highly competitive in Tamil Nadu. The state, which has typically witnessed bipolar contests between the DMK and AIADMK, is now shifting towards a multi-faceted electoral battle.
The approaching elections are expected to see rivalry among the DMK, AIADMK, BJP, NTK, and Vijay’s TVK.
Vijay will confront substantial challenges in establishing a political foothold in the presence of established figures such as Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami, emerging leaders like Udhayanidhi Stalin, and BJP state president K. Annamalai.
