Chennai, March 29 (NationPress) Actor-turned-politician Vijay has recently introduced an extensive 10-point agenda focused on youth, framing it as a “commitment” to enhance opportunities for young people should the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) gain power in Tamil Nadu.

During a well-attended gathering in Nungambakkam, Vijay characterized these initiatives as a direct social contract with the youth of the state. “This is not merely a promise; this is TVK’s commitment… your brother Vijay’s assurance,” he stated, underscoring a strong emphasis on employment, education, and governance reforms amidst increasing job scarcity concerns.

A significant aspect of the agenda is the pledge to establish a “drug-free Tamil Nadu”. Vijay proposed tough regulations to restrict the flow and consumption of narcotics, along with community-led programs like anti-drug clubs in educational institutions to foster awareness and prevention at the grassroots level.

Regarding education, the TVK leader introduced an “Education Assurance Scheme”, which will offer collateral-free loans of up to Rs 20 lakh for higher education, ensuring that financial constraints do not force students to abandon their studies. He stressed the importance of making education accessible to all, regardless of their economic situation.

To tackle unemployment, Vijay suggested implementing a Tamil Nadu Recruitment Accountability and Transparency Act, which would establish a fixed annual schedule for government hiring, ensuring that all appointments occur within one year. In the interim, job seekers will receive financial aid—Rs 4,000 monthly for graduates and Rs 2,500 for diploma and ITI holders over the age of 25.

The agenda also outlines a large-scale internship initiative targeting five lakh youth annually, providing stipends of Rs 10,000 for graduates and Rs 8,000 for diploma holders. To promote entrepreneurship, the party aims to offer collateral-free loans of up to Rs 25 lakh and introduce a “Tamil Employment Credit System” to encourage businesses that hire at least 75% of their workforce locally.

In terms of governance, Vijay suggested appointing youth as “Chief Minister’s People Service Associates” within local bodies, with a monthly stipend of Rs 18,000, to enhance service delivery at the grassroots level. A Youth Advisory Council will also be formed to guarantee the direct involvement of young people in policy-making processes.

Moreover, a “Creator-preneur” initiative aims to assist 1.5 lakh youth with seed funding while establishing 500 specialized schools throughout the state.

“Every proposal is aimed at securing the future of Tamil Nadu's youth,” Vijay remarked, highlighting his party’s youth-focused political agenda ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
