Chennai, Nov 26 (NationPress) Actor-politician Vijay, who leads the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is poised to initiate an extensive public outreach effort in Puducherry on December 5 as his party gears up for its inaugural participation in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, slated for April next year.

As the political atmosphere heats up and the TVK escalates its grassroots initiatives, the Puducherry roadshow is anticipated to draw significant crowds.

The choice to move the mobilization campaign to Puducherry comes in response to strict limitations enacted in Tamil Nadu following the unfortunate Karur incident, where 41 individuals lost their lives in a stampede caused by an overwhelming crowd at a TVK gathering.

Consequently, the Tamil Nadu Police denied permission for large public assemblies, compelling TVK to reduce its recent event in Kanchipuram to a small-scale gathering capped at 2,000 participants.

TVK's strategic 'Puducherry move' aims to maintain its momentum while avoiding bureaucratic obstacles. Party leaders express confidence that the adjacent Union Territory will permit the event, allowing Vijay to engage with the public during this pivotal political period.

To gain official authorization, senior TVK officials have submitted a request to the Puducherry Director General of Police (DGP).

The request details the intended route and seeks essential security arrangements for the December 5 roadshow.

As outlined in the submission, Vijay plans to start his journey from Kalapet and interact with citizens along a pre-planned path, which includes Ajanta Signal, Uppalam Water Tank, Ariyankuppam, Thavalakuppam, Kirumampakkam, and Kanniakoil.

The request also specifies that Vijay will address supporters using a public-address system at designated locations, with the main speech scheduled to take place near the Uppalam–Sonaampalayam Water Tank.

The event is set to run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 5.

TVK has urged the Puducherry Police to provide adequate security and manage crowds, highlighting the increasing attendance at Vijay's events.

It emphasized that effective coordination is essential for ensuring participant safety and the successful execution of the program.

As Vijay deepens his political involvement, the Puducherry roadshow is perceived as a vital opportunity to enhance visibility and connect with voters ahead of the critical 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
