Chennai, Feb 26 (NationPress) Tamil superstar-turned-politician Vijay’s party, TVK, is gearing up to commemorate its first anniversary on Wednesday at a private hotel in Mahabalipuram.

Political strategist Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, is expected to grace the occasion.

As shared by TVK General Secretary N. Anand, the anniversary celebration will be spearheaded by party founder and president Vijay. He noted that TVK, grounded in the ideals of love, concern, and selfless service, has achieved remarkable milestones in its inaugural year.

He attributed the party’s rising popularity to the steadfast backing of the populace, who have entrusted TVK with their aspirations. Approximately 2,500 to 3,000 delegates are anticipated to attend this momentous occasion.

During the event, Vijay is poised to unveil crucial announcements regarding the party’s roadmap, particularly regarding the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Additionally, TVK General Secretary Anand and election strategists John Arockiyasamy and Prashant Kishor will address the audience.

Sources suggest that various political figures, including B. Kaliyammal, head of the women’s wing of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), might officially join TVK in the presence of Vijay during the gathering.

Vijay officially inaugurated Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on February 2, 2024, proclaiming his stance against corruption and divisive politics. While he opted out of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he declared TVK would contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

On August 22, 2024, Vijay revealed the party’s flag and anthem at TVK’s headquarters in Panaiyur, Chennai.

The party’s inaugural conference, conducted on October 27, 2024, in Vikravandi, Villupuram district, reportedly drew a vast crowd of around 300,000 attendees. The event resulted in severe traffic delays in Vikravandi and Mundiyampakkam, prompting vehicle diversions on the Chennai-Tiruchi National Highway. During the conference, Vijay vehemently criticized both the DMK and BJP, labeling the BJP as his ideological rival and the DMK as his political foe.

He accused the DMK of being a family-oriented party that exploits the 'Dravidian' identity for personal gain, while he reproached the BJP for its divisive politics. Following his statements, the DMK accused Vijay of being the ‘C team’ of the BJP.

Vijay’s influence in Tamil Nadu politics has been on the rise since his fan club, the All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (AITVMI), secured 115 out of 169 seats in the 2021 Tamil Nadu local body elections. In contrast, Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) and Seeman’s Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) failed to secure any seats. This electoral triumph has bolstered Vijay’s standing in the political arena.

He has also made it clear that TVK will only collaborate with parties that recognize his leadership. Political analysts interpret this as a strong indication of Vijay aiming for the Chief Minister position in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
