Chennai, Feb 13 (NationPress) Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the recently established political entity by Tamil superstar-turned-politician Vijay, has revealed its intention to appoint 70,000 full-time booth committee secretaries throughout Tamil Nadu.

This initiative is designed to fortify the party's organizational framework and broaden its grassroots impact.

TVK has initiated a campaign to assign one secretary per polling booth, which encompasses the 68,320 polling stations set up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in the state. District secretaries have been instructed to finalize the hiring process by the end of this month.

To facilitate the recruitment, TVK has implemented an online registration link, enabling interested candidates to indicate their readiness for the position.

After the appointments are confirmed, the party will provide extensive training sessions for the newly appointed booth committee secretaries. Vijay officially launched TVK on February 2, 2024, after considerable anticipation.

The party's flag and emblem were formally revealed on August 22, 2024, at its headquarters in Chennai.

During the unveiling, Vijay proclaimed that the party was “battle-ready” and would participate in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

It is important to mention that during the party’s inauguration on February 2, 2024, Vijay stated that TVK would abstain from contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

He highlighted that while his fan club, All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (AITVMI), had been engaged in community service for numerous years, realizing comprehensive social, economic, and political reforms necessitated political authority.

The TVK party flag is adorned with red bands at the top and bottom, with a yellow band at the center.

At its heart lies a Vaagai flower, a historical symbol of triumph in Tamil culture, encircled by 28 stars.

On either side of the flower, two trumpeting elephants face each other. In the 2021 local body elections, AITVMI contested 169 seats and secured 115, marking a notable success.

In contrast, actor Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) and actor-director Seeman’s Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) did not win any seats.
