Noida, Oct 2 (NationPress) As the nation commemorates Dussehra, a controversial poster making its rounds on social media has stirred the political climate in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
The situation escalated significantly when members of the Samajwadi Party (SP), angered by the poster's covert implications, visited a police station in Noida to file an official complaint.
The contentious poster was linked to the auspicious festival of Vijaya Dashmi, containing veiled allusions to opposition figures, including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.
His supporters were understandably incensed, leading to a demonstration at the Sector-24 police station where they chanted slogans. They also submitted a formal complaint appealing for stringent measures against the individuals behind the poster.
The poster gained traction online, being widely shared and discussed among numerous users.
It portrayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducting a havan (fire ritual), with a caption stating, "Whenever Dharma is established, the demons face trouble."
Additionally, it featured images of opposition leaders, including Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, SP President Akhilesh Yadav, and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who were allegedly represented as "demons." This portrayal resulted in significant outrage among SP supporters.
A group of party members, led by the SP district president, arrived at the Sector-24 police station in Noida, vociferously condemning the poster for inciting hatred in society.
In a memorandum submitted to law enforcement, SP representatives asserted that the poster was allegedly crafted and disseminated by a young man from Chaura village in Noida.
The complaint indicated that this act was intentionally carried out to disrupt the city's atmosphere and propagate political enmity. They demanded that a case be filed promptly and that stringent actions be enforced.
SP members cautioned that if no timely action is taken, they would be compelled to instigate a broader movement.
The police received the complaint and assured the party that an investigation would be launched and appropriate actions would be undertaken.
