Indore, Aug 18 (NationPress) Tragically, three workers lost their lives and another sustained severe injuries when the wall of a septic tank they had recently constructed fell due to the effects of heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh's Indore, according to police reports on Monday.

The unfortunate event took place in Shiv City, a residential area being developed within the jurisdiction of the Rajendra Nagar police station.

At the time of the incident, the labourers were working inside the septic tank when the newly erected wall collapsed.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vinod Meena stated that the injured individual has been hospitalized and is currently receiving treatment.

According to DSP Meena, the condition of the injured worker is critical.

"The labourers had built a wall around the septic tank and were completing additional concrete work when the wall fell, burying them under the rubble. This residential colony is under construction in the Rajendra Nagar area of Indore," Meena explained.

The labourers involved were local residents of Indore.

"Upon arriving at the scene, all labourers were rescued and taken to the hospital for urgent medical care. So far, three individuals have been confirmed dead," Meena added.

The deceased workers have been identified as Gautam Rathore (25), Rameshwar (54), and Titu (20). The critically injured individual receiving treatment has been identified as Sohan (18), according to the police.

"A case has been filed at the Rajendra Nagar police station, and an investigation is currently ongoing. Initial findings suggest that the incident was precipitated by heavy rainfall, but further actions will be taken based on the investigation results," the police officer remarked.

It is noteworthy that Indore and surrounding districts have experienced significant rainfall since early Monday morning.

The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning for 14 districts, including Indore in Madhya Pradesh. Among these, four districts – Dewas, Harda, Khandwa, and Burhanpur – may encounter extremely heavy rainfall within the next 24 hours.

Since the monsoon arrived on June 16, Madhya Pradesh has recorded 31.3 inches of rainfall, exceeding the seasonal average of 25.2 inches.

This indicates that the state has already received 6.1 inches more rain than usual. The standard seasonal average for the state is 37 inches.
