The victim has been identified as Jyothi, aged 45.
As per police reports, the incident unfolded around 5:30 a.m. when Jyothi went outside her home to tidy the front yard. Unidentified attackers confronted her at the entrance, forcefully snatched her gold mangalsutra and earrings, sprayed a noxious substance on her face, and made their escape.
Her family discovered Jyothi lying unconscious outside their residence around 6:30 a.m. Marks were evident on her hand, and her jewelry was gone. She was rushed to a local hospital, but unfortunately, doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Foam was found around her mouth, leading to suspicions that she may have suffocated from the spray used by the culprits. Jyothi also sustained facial injuries after being pushed and hitting a sump lid in front of her home.
Officers from the Madanayakanahalli police station visited the crime scene for inspection. The body has been transferred to Victoria Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Family members recounted that the attackers assaulted Jyothi at her doorway, forcibly taking her gold chain and earrings, spraying a chemical on her face, and pushing her aggressively. “Her face collided with the sump lid, causing injuries.
