Chhatarpur, July 8 (NationPress) In a devastating event, a woman tragically passed away after the wall of a dhaba (eatery) crumbled at the Bageshwar Dham site in Garha village, located in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district, officials reported.
The deceased, identified as Anita Devi Kharwar (40), the wife of Raju and a resident of Adalhat village in Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh, died instantly after being trapped under the rubble.
She was at Bageshwar Dham with her family to honor Guru Purnima, which is set for July 10.
The family was resting in the dhaba when the incident unfolded.
In total, twelve other devotees were injured in this unfortunate episode.
According to police reports, nine of the injured individuals hail from Uttar Pradesh, one from Uttarakhand, and two from West Bengal.
Prominent spiritual leader Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, widely known as Bageshwar Dham Sarkar, has urged people via the social media platform X to remain at home and observe Paduka Pujan on July 10.
Four of the more critically injured have been sent to Gajra Raja Medical College Hospital in Gwalior for specialized care, while seven others with minor injuries are receiving treatment at Chhatarpur District Hospital.
The injured include: Munshilal Kashyap (72) from Sailanpur, Pilah; Poonam Devi Kharwar (38) and Priya Kumari Kharwar (17) from Jongwa, Mirzapur; Veena Devi Kashyap (50) from Sujanpur, Bareilly; Manju Devi Kurmi (40) and Arvind Kumar Patel (17) from Narayanpur, Mirzapur; Anshika Kumari Kahar (18) and Namvar Prasad (42) from Jogwan, Mirzapur; and Sachin Kashyap (28) from Shahjahanpur, all from Uttar Pradesh.
Additionally, others injured include Kaushal Saini (18) from Roorkee, Haridwar (Uttarakhand), and Gulabchand Sahu (55) and Dhaneshwari Devi Sahu (48) from Hawara-2, Howrah (West Bengal).
Authorities stated that an investigation into the collapse of the wall is currently in progress.
The state government has confirmed it will provide compensation to the family of the deceased.
