New Delhi, March 10 (NationPress) A tragic incident occurred in Gurugram, where seven migrant workers lost their lives and four others suffered injuries due to the collapse of a wall at a sewage treatment plant (STP) construction site within a residential project.

The accident took place around 8 PM at the Signature Global project in Sidhrawali village, where construction activities were ongoing.

Officials reported that a group of labourers, hired by a private contractor, was working at the STP location when a concrete retention wall unexpectedly collapsed, leading to a significant soil subsidence at the basement level.

The collapse resulted in several workers being trapped underneath debris and soil. Rescue teams responded promptly, managing to extract approximately 12 to 15 labourers who were stranded under the rubble. They were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital in Bhiwadi for medical attention.

Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors pronounced seven workers dead. The deceased were identified as Shiv Shankar from Banihara, Parmeshwar Mehto from Hondai, Mangal Mehto from Hathi Binda, Bhagirath Gope and Sanjeev Gope from Pohita in Jamshedpur, Satish from Burka Jadthal Nagar in Bharatpur, and Dhananjay Mehto.

The injured individuals include Indrajeet, Chhotelal, and Shivkam Chaudhary, all from Nepal, along with Deendayal Sharma from Bandikui.

They are currently receiving treatment at the Bhiwadi hospital, where doctors have indicated their conditions are stable but they remain under close observation.

Officials stated that the workers were present at the site when the wall under construction gave way, causing the surrounding soil to collapse and trapping them beneath.

An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the reasons behind the collapse. However, attempts to reach Signature Global for a comment went unanswered at the time of writing.

In a separate note, during the third quarter of the current financial year (Q3 FY26), the real estate developer reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 45.33 crore. Comparatively, in the same period last year (Q3 FY25), Signature Global had posted a net profit of Rs 29.13 crore.

Total income for the realty firm fell to Rs 312.76 crore during the October to December timeframe of the current fiscal year, down from Rs 862.14 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
