New Delhi, March 10 (NationPress) A notice has been issued to the company overseeing the construction site in Gurugram where seven labourers tragically lost their lives after being buried under soil. Compensation is assured for the families of the victims, according to an official announcement made on Tuesday.
In a statement to IANS, Anil Sharma, the Assistant Commissioner of Gurugram, confirmed that the notice was served following the grave incident at the Signature Global construction site located in Sidhrawali.
“Authorities are working to ensure that compensation cheques are secured from the company and delivered to the families of the deceased workers,” he explained.
Sharma further emphasized, “The administration's primary focus is on returning the bodies to the families and offering financial support, while legal action will be pursued in accordance with the law.”
The unfortunate accident occurred on Monday evening around 7 pm at the Signature Global builder society situated near Hotel Rao on the Delhi–Jaipur highway in the Sidhrawali region.
As per officials, the labourers were engaged in excavation work when the soil unexpectedly collapsed, trapping several workers beneath it.
Seven labourers tragically died in the incident, with four others sustaining injuries. The injured individuals were immediately transported to a hospital in Bhiwadi, where three of them are currently receiving treatment. It was noted that three of the injured workers hail from Nepal.
Local police reported that six of the deceased workers were from Jharkhand, while one was from Rajasthan.
Authorities have confirmed that the bodies of the deceased are being sent to Gurugram for post-mortem examinations before being returned to their families.
The Gurugram Police have reached out to the relatives of both the deceased and the injured workers.
According to IANS, a case has been filed against the company, and strict measures will be taken against those deemed negligent.
Legal proceedings will be conducted in Haryana, as the incident falls within its jurisdiction, while the injured workers were taken to Bhiwadi for medical care.
