Imphal, March 13 (NationPress) Senior Border Security Force (BSF) and police officials on Thursday paid their respects to three BSF jawans who tragically lost their lives and 11 others sustained injuries after the bus they were traveling in plunged into a gorge in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, officials reported.
A BSF spokesman confirmed that senior officials from the BSF, Police, and Civil Administration honored the three fallen paramilitary personnel at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal.
The deceased BSF members include Head Constable Surendra Kumar, Constable Bachhu Mondal, and Constable Ankul Singh of the 37 Battalion of BSF.
Manipur's Additional Director General of Police L. Kailun, along with Sanjay Kumar Misra, Inspector General of BSF Mizoram and Cachar Frontier, and other senior officials from the BSF and Manipur Police, paid their final tributes to the martyred soldiers during a wreath-laying ceremony.
The spokesman added that the three BSF personnel, along with 11 other jawans, were injured in a road accident at Changoubung village in Kangpokpi district on March 11.
All injured personnel were promptly evacuated to Senapati District Hospital for medical treatment.
Unfortunately, the three BSF members succumbed to their injuries.
The fallen BSF jawans had made significant contributions through their selfless dedication to maintaining law and order in Manipur, the spokesman stated.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony, the bodies of the three BSF jawans were transported to their respective homes in different states.
Earlier, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla expressed his condolences regarding the tragic accident and the loss of the jawans.
The Manipur Raj Bhavan posted on X, stating: "Manipur Governor, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident in Changoubung village, Senapati district, where three BSF personnel lost their lives. He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the swift recovery of the injured."
In addition to the Army and Assam Rifles, thousands of personnel from various Central Armed Police Forces, including BSF, Central Reserve Police Force, and Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force, were deployed in Manipur due to the ethnic violence in the region.
