Shimla, May 6 (NationPress) The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has, in its latest meeting, granted approval for the inclusion of women domestic workers in the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behana Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojna. These women will be entitled to a monthly pension of Rs 1,500.
Eligibility extends to those who have worked a minimum of 100 days as domestic helpers, along with their daughters who are 21 years or older.
The Cabinet also sanctioned an increase in the minimum support price (MSP) for organically grown crops. The MSP for wheat has been elevated from Rs 40 to Rs 60 per kg, while for maize, it has risen from Rs 30 to Rs 40 per kg. Furthermore, the MSP for naturally grown raw turmeric is set at Rs 90 per kg, and barley from the Pangi block in Chamba district is now priced at Rs 60 per kg. The Cabinet declared Pangi as the state’s first natural farming subdivision.
In a move to enhance public transport, the Cabinet approved the allocation of 422 stage carriage routes to private operators, aiming to provide effective transport services and self-employment opportunities for job seekers.
To tackle roadside parking issues and congestion, the Cabinet has agreed to open feasible closed basement areas for parking. A significant penalty will be imposed if these designated parking spaces are used for purposes other than parking.
Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned the establishment of nephrology, neurology, and gastroenterology departments at Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College in Hamirpur, alongside the creation and filling of 118 posts across various categories to ensure efficient operation. It was also decided that 43 technical vacancies under Krishi Vigyan Kendras will be filled.
Moreover, plans are in place to open a new division of the Jal Shakti Vibhag at Sujanpur in Hamirpur district. The new Home Stay Policy has also been approved, setting the registration fee for homestays in the Pangi subdivision at 50% of the standard rate. Furthermore, the Cabinet has approved the upgrade of the Ayurvedic Health Centre at Kosari in the Jaisinghpur Assembly segment of Kangra district to a 10-bedded Ayurvedic Hospital, along with the necessary staffing.
