Women of Tamil Nadu Will Topple the DMK Government: BJP Claims

Chennai, Jan 4 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu BJP Spokesperson and senior party leader ANS Prasad asserted that the Dravidian model DMK government, which he argues is against women’s rights and favors oppressors, will be dismantled by the women of the state.

He accused the DMK government of imposing a modern-day emergency-style regime and stated that the citizens of Tamil Nadu would no longer endure it.

The BJP leader alleged that incidents of violence against women have been escalating consistently over the past three years under the DMK administration.

He stressed that women and girls across all age groups -- from young children to college students, as well as middle-aged and elderly women -- have been suffering due to administrative shortcomings and police inaction. “This has become a recurring issue,” Prasad commented, adding that the populace of Tamil Nadu, who have been patient for far too long, are now voicing their dissent.

Referring to a recent case of sexual harassment involving a student at Anna University, he mentioned that it has sparked public outrage, prompting residents to take to the streets in pursuit of justice with renewed vigor.

Prasad criticized the DMK government and the Tamil Nadu Police, alleging they have fostered a climate of indifference and negligence.

“This has raised pressing questions among the citizens, such as ‘Who is accountable for this?’ and ‘Why has this calamity occurred?’” he stated.

He observed that following these events, numerous political parties have joined in the protests against the DMK administration.

“Tamil Nadu BJP leader K. Annamalai’s tireless demonstrations have highlighted that curbing violence against women is a shared obligation,” Prasad declared.

He further noted that social welfare organizations, college students, political parties, and women’s rights advocates have united to demand justice.

However, Prasad accused the DMK government of trying to stifle these protests through illegal methods and police force.

He pointed to the recent detentions of BJP National Executive Committee Member Khushbu Sundar and Tamil Nadu BJP Mahila Morcha leader Uma Rathii, who were apprehended on January 3 as the women’s wing was about to commence a long march from Madurai to Chennai.

Prasad also claimed that women traveling from various regions to join the protest were intercepted and held overnight.

He alleged that the DMK government’s oppressive measures -- including arrests, threats, and fabricated charges against opposing parties -- are reminiscent of the Emergency era in India.

He urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to immediately cease these actions and warned that failure to do so could result in a peaceful revolution by the populace that would oust the DMK from Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
