Chennai, July 16 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu branch of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a pointed critique of the DMK-led government, claiming it has severely mismanaged the healthcare system.

BJP spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad asserted that the state’s health infrastructure is in chaos and that the Dravidian model government has failed to safeguard even newborns.

Expressing deep concern over the declining standards in public hospitals, Prasad stated, “Chief Minister M.K. Stalin must explain whether the state’s healthcare system has entered a dark period. From primary health centres to prominent institutions like Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai, patients are enduring subpar facilities and inadequate care.”

The senior leader highlighted a recent viral video from the Government Maternity Hospital in Kallakurichi as a shocking instance of administrative incompetence.

The footage allegedly depicted newborns placed on the floor due to a lack of cribs, igniting outrage and prompting questions about hospital readiness.

“The DMK assumed power with promises of an improved healthcare system under its so-called Dravidian model. What we are witnessing instead is disorder, neglect, and a complete inability to provide even fundamental medical services,” he remarked.

He also criticized Health Minister Ma Subramanian for concentrating more on public relations and damage control rather than tackling the underlying issues of the crisis.

“Instead of promptly addressing these problems, the Health Minister is preoccupied with salvaging the party’s tarnished image amid widespread betrayals of public trust,” Prasad claimed.

The BJP spokesperson stated that the citizens of Tamil Nadu deserve superior governance and called for immediate accountability.

“This is not merely administrative negligence - it is a humanitarian crisis. The government can no longer hide behind propaganda. Both the Chief Minister and the Health Minister must accept full responsibility for the current state of healthcare and act urgently,” he concluded.

The Tamil Nadu government has not yet addressed these allegations.

Point of View

The allegations against the DMK government highlight significant concerns regarding healthcare management in Tamil Nadu. The BJP's claims, if substantiated, suggest a pressing need for accountability and reform in the state's health system, which affects millions. It’s crucial for the government to address these issues transparently.
