Gandhinagar, March 8 (NationPress) An all-women police security team will be deployed for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's event in Gujarat's Navsari district on International Women's Day this Saturday.
The Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, revealed that this marks the first instance in India where only female police personnel will manage the security for a prime ministerial event.
"The Gujarat Police is launching a remarkable initiative for International Women's Day. From the moment the Prime Minister arrives at the helipad in Vansi Borsi village until the event concludes, all security measures will be handled solely by women police officers," Sanghavi stated.
The security arrangement will encompass officers at all ranks, from Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to Constables.
In total, over 2,100 Constables, 187 Sub-Inspectors, 61 Police Inspectors, 16 Deputy Superintendents of Police, 5 Superintendents of Police, 1 Inspector General of Police, and 1 Additional Director General of Police will be on duty.
Senior IPS officer and Home Secretary Nipuna Torawane will oversee the security strategies, ensuring flawless implementation of this initiative.
Prime Minister Modi is presently on a two-day visit to Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
During his visit, he will speak at the 'Lakhpati Didi Sammelan' in Vansi Borsi village on Saturday.
Sanghavi highlighted the importance of this initiative, affirming that it will convey a strong message globally on Women's Day while illustrating the crucial role of women in maintaining safety and security in Gujarat.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate two significant state government schemes -- G-SAFAL (Gujarat Scheme for Antyodaya Families for Augmenting Livelihoods) and G-MAITRI (Gujarat Mentorship and Acceleration of Individuals for Transforming Rural Income), aimed at enhancing rural livelihoods and economic upliftment.
The G-MAITRI initiative is set to assist startups that promote a sustainable rural economy by offering financial support and mentorship.
Meanwhile, the G-SAFAL program will provide financial assistance and entrepreneurial training to Self-Help Groups led by women from Antyodaya families, focusing on two aspirational districts and 13 aspirational blocks in Gujarat.
