New Delhi, Sep 6 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his delight on Saturday regarding the visit of Bhutan’s Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay and his wife to Ayodhya Dham. “It is truly wonderful to witness PM Tobgay and his wife as they pray at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya. The principles embodied by Prabhu Shri Ram inspire and empower millions around the world,” PM Modi remarked on X.
During his four-day tour of India, Bhutan’s Prime Minister visited the Ram Janmabhoomi temple on Friday, offering prayers to Ram Lalla.
Accompanied by his wife, Tashi Doma, this visit marks a historic milestone as he is the first Prime Minister from a foreign country to pay respects at Ram Lalla within the temple grounds.
The Ministry of External Affairs shared images of their visit on social media, describing it as a ‘historic first’.
Spending approximately an hour and 40 minutes in the temple complex, the couple engaged in prayers at various locations, including the Ram Darbar, Hanumangarhi Temple, and visited the temples of Kuber Teela, Jatayu, and Sapta Mandapam.
They also observed ongoing construction efforts. The General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Champat Rai, warmly welcomed the Bhutan PM and his wife and facilitated a tour of the temple.
Impressed by the temple's grandeur, they took photos to commemorate the occasion and admired the intricate murals adorning the lower plinth and the bronze artworks on the rampart walls. PM Tobgay expressed admiration for the temple’s exquisite carvings.
He bowed before Ram Lalla three times and received prasad after the aarti.
Significantly, the Bhutanese PM met with Union Minister Kiren Rijuju on Friday and had discussions with business magnate Gautam Adani and External Affairs Minister Jaishankar on Saturday.
Accompanied by his wife, Bhutanese PM Tobgay is on an official visit to India from September 3 to 6.
