Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Lucknow, March 7 (NationPress) The president of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, on Saturday criticizes the BJP administrations at both the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh, contending that soaring inflation and excessive taxation are increasingly burdening everyday citizens.
During a press briefing, Yadav stated that inflation will only decrease when BJP officials relinquish their positions of power.
He accused the government of persistently raising taxes without effectively managing the escalating prices of essential goods.
Highlighting the rise in LPG cylinder costs, he noted that once prices climb, they seldom revert to previous levels.
Additionally, he claimed that vehicles are subjected to taxes as high as 50%, which he believes is further straining the financial resources of the average person.
At the event, several individuals, including former DIG Ram Sharad Ram, joined the Samajwadi Party. Welcoming them, Yadav remarked that the increasing number of new members signifies the growing confidence of the public in the Samajwadi Party.
The SP leader also criticized the state administration regarding the law and order situation.
Mentioning an incident in Kanpur, he alleged that disclosed police call records have unveiled supposed connections between certain officers and smugglers. He questioned why, if police officials' call details can be accessed, similar scrutiny isn't applied to smugglers' communications.
Yadav further accused the BJP of employing a song as a tool for political propaganda aimed at tarnishing the image of the Samajwadi Party. He announced plans to file an FIR in this regard, which would also determine if appropriate measures would be taken.
Emphasizing the accomplishments of the Samajwadi Party government during his term as Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister, Yadav highlighted several key development initiatives launched during that time. These included expressway projects, the distribution of laptops to students, the Gomti Riverfront project, the Dial-100 emergency service, the expansion of the ambulance network, and the establishment of the Cancer Institute.
He also asserted that the highest number of thermal power plants in the state were created during the tenure of the Samajwadi Party government.
Questioning the operational integrity of the Election Commission, Yadav alleged that some attempts were being made to manipulate voters. He noted that had Samajwadi Party activists not raised concerns, many voter names might have been eliminated from the electoral rolls in various Assembly constituencies.
On foreign policy, Yadav stated that Russia has long been a reliable partner for India, and if cheaper oil is obtainable from there, the nation should seize the opportunity to bolster the economy.
The SP chief reiterated that in the future, a coalition comprising backward classes, Dalits, and minorities—which he termed the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) alliance—would form the government.
