New Delhi, Dec 10 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a fierce critique of the Congress party during a session in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, claiming that the party's ongoing electoral misfortunes are a direct result of its rejection of pivotal initiatives from the Modi administration, with the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya being the most notable.
“You resisted the abrogation of Article 370, opposed the CAA, fought against the repeal of triple talaq, contested surgical strikes, and above all, you stood against the Ram Mandir. This is precisely why the electorate has turned away from you time and again,” HM Shah asserted, as the members of the NDA responded with enthusiastic applause.
The Home Minister cautioned that the Congress’s present campaign against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and the One Nation One Election (ONOE) initiative would only further alienate them from the electorate.
“If you persist in opposing SIR, you won’t just be marginalized in Bihar – you will face obliteration in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu in the upcoming elections,” he predicted.
HM Shah attributed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s significant electoral successes to real welfare initiatives rather than any form of manipulation.
“Modi ji has provided free rations, gas cylinders, tap water, and electricity to 60 crore citizens and has developed top-notch infrastructure. The public rewards performance with their votes. The citizenry is divine – and you dare call this mandate ‘vote theft’?” he challenged, provoking sharp reactions from the opposition.
Labeling the day’s debate as a crucial moment, HM Shah stated that the government had effectively dismantled what he termed “one-sided fabrications” propagated by the Congress regarding the Election Commission’s voter list purification initiative.
“Every misleading narrative you crafted around SIR has been thoroughly debunked today in this House,” he emphasized.
The Home Minister’s assertive response took place amid ongoing discussions during the Winter Session concerning electoral reforms, with opposition members alleging that the Centre is leveraging SIR to disenfranchise marginalized groups ahead of critical state elections.
However, Shah characterized the initiative as vital for electoral integrity and national security, pledging that the NDA would continue undeterred.
Following his speech, the House was adjourned for the day.
