Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Indore, April 2 (NationPress) A young girl, aged approximately three to five years, narrowly avoided a fatal incident yet endured serious injuries when a vehicle struck her in the upscale residential area of Shanti Niketan, situated behind the Bombay Hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
The police reported that the event transpired on Tuesday while the girl was playing outside her residence with another child in the Shanti Niketan colony, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Lasudia Police Station in Indore Zone-2.
The incident came to public attention after a video went viral on social media, depicting a vehicle running over a child.
This occurrence was captured by a CCTV camera positioned at a home within the same colony.
The footage reveals two children playing on the street when a grey car approached from behind and collided with one of them.
The front wheel of the vehicle rolled over the child's legs, while the rear wheel passed over her body.
Once the car departed, the child was seen attempting to rise by herself.
Indore's Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Zone-2, Amrendra Singh, confirmed the video’s authenticity on Thursday, stating that the vehicle belongs to Sanjay Agarwar, a resident of Shanti Niketan colony.
“A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed regarding the viral video. The involved vehicle has been confiscated, and legal actions are in progress. The car is owned by Sanjay Agarwar, who resides in the same colony. At the time of the incident, the vehicle was being operated by his driver. The child sustained leg injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment,” the Indore ADCP mentioned.
This incident follows closely after a female software engineer, Shampa Pandey, was also run over by a car during a dispute in the affluent Shiv Vatika Township on March 26.
Both incidents occurred under the jurisdiction of the Lasudia Police Station within a week.
The alleged perpetrators, Kuldeep Choudhary and his 18-year-old son Monish, were arrested shortly after the March 26 incident, with investigations continuing.
