Young Man Detained with Narcotics Worth Rs 2 Crore in West Bengal

Kolkata, Dec 4 (NationPress) A young man was detained following the confiscation of a narcotics shipment valued at Rs 2 crore from him in Ghutiari Sharif, located in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Wednesday.
The individual apprehended has been identified as Abdul Molla.
According to reports from the district police, they received a tip-off regarding a narcotics shipment that had recently been delivered to an individual in Ghutiari Sharif.
A police team led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) carried out a raid at Molla's residence early Wednesday.
"The raid was initiated at an unusual hour to prevent the suspect from fleeing. Molla was taken into custody along with the narcotics shipment," stated a police official from the district. Additionally, some cash was also confiscated from him.
The detained youth will be produced before a district court on Wednesday, where the public prosecutor is expected to request his police custody.
Molla, a resident of Mangalkot in East Burdwan district of West Bengal, had recently begun residing in Ghutiari Sharif. Investigations so far indicate that his primary reason for moving to Ghutiari Sharif was to receive the narcotics shipment.
District police sources noted that Ghutiari Sharif is generally recognized as a hub for illegal activities, including narcotics trafficking. However, they emphasized that this is the first instance in recent times where such a substantial quantity of narcotics has been seized from the area.
Investigators suspect that the apprehended youth is likely involved in a cross-border narcotics trafficking network.
The police are interrogating him to uncover the origin of the seized shipment and its intended destination for smuggling. They are also seeking information about the accused's accomplices in the crime.
