New Delhi, June 17 (NationPress) The Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Justice V. Ramasubramanian, emphasized that young individuals can play a vital role in fostering an inclusive and equitable society through enhanced awareness of human rights, as stated by an official on Tuesday.

During the launch of the NHRC's four-week Summer Internship Programme (SIP) 2025, Justice Ramasubramanian highlighted the significance of acquiring knowledge for purposeful living.

He encouraged the interns to advocate for justice and compassion, thereby promoting a community where equal rights and opportunities are available to every individual.

Launched on Monday, this initiative aims to elevate human rights awareness among students at the university level.

Approximately 80 students were selected from a pool of 1,468 applicants from 42 institutions across 20 states and union territories, representing a variety of academic disciplines.

The selected participants include students from fields such as Law, Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Journalism, Gender Studies, Digital Humanities, and International Relations.

Previously, NHRC Secretary General Bharat Lal underscored the pivotal role of youth in the advancement of human rights.
