Agartala, March 14 (NationPress) Highlighting the significance of engaging youth in the political landscape, Tripura's Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Ratan Lal Nath, stated on Saturday that the participation of honest and educated young individuals is vital for reinforcing democracy.

During the state-level session of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 held at the Tripura Assembly, the Minister articulated that young people are the architects of the nation's future and must take an active role in shaping the country.

He mentioned that although India gained independence in 1947, the objective should be to establish the nation as a global leader by 2047.

"There are only 22 years remaining. We must lay a robust foundation now. I am not here just to give a speech but to spark a flame—a flame of ideas, bravery, and accountability," Minister Nath remarked.

Emphasizing the influential role of youth in national development, he noted that they have historically been pivotal in significant movements, such as the fight for freedom and various social reforms.

"Today, we confront numerous challenges—poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, and discrimination. Yet, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, these issues have seen considerable reduction," he stated.

The Minister also underscored that democracy transcends merely voting during elections.

"India, being the world's largest democracy, signifies more than just casting ballots. It involves exercising conscience, honoring diverse perspectives, and having the fortitude to uphold the truth," he added.

Referencing India's rich cultural and spiritual legacy, Minister Nath drew inspiration from eminent figures like Swami Vivekananda, Subhas Chandra Bose, Gautama Buddha, and Mahatma Gandhi.

"We advocate for peace, but we also understand how to respond if provoked, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm of our nation," he emphasized.

Minister Nath asserted that development should not only be assessed through economic measures like GDP but also via enhancements in people's lives.

"Development signifies providing students in rural areas with laptops, securing financial stability for farmers, and enhancing the safety and empowerment of women," he mentioned.

He pointed out India's demographic edge, noting that the substantial youth population is its greatest asset.

"Our most valuable resource is our human capital, which is unparalleled globally. This is a blessing for our nation. However, our youth must be guided by ethics, integrity, a spirit of inquiry, and humanity," he stated.

Minister Nath encouraged the youth to engage in politics actively.

"If honest and educated individuals refrain from participating in politics, democracy will falter. Young people should not fear politics. They must engage in every facet of society because the youth of today are the nation's architects for tomorrow," he concluded.

The event also saw the attendance of Speaker-in-Charge Ram Prasad Paul, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy, Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das, Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy, and MLA Chitta Ranjan Debbarma.
