Kolkata, March 5 (NationPress) A young man was shot dead in broad daylight on Wednesday morning by unidentified assailants while on the open road at Swarupnagar under the Basirhat sub-division in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

The victim has been identified as Isarul Gazi (32), a resident of Swarupnagar.

Witnesses reported that as Isarul Gazi was riding his motorcycle through the area, he was suddenly chased by a group of unknown youths also on motorcycles.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that even after being shot, Isarul attempted to flee the scene by accelerating his motorcycle.

Unfortunately, the assailants fired additional shots, causing him to fall onto the road, where he lay bleeding profusely.

Subsequently, according to statements from witnesses to the police, the attackers removed the jacket that Gazi was wearing and fled the scene.

This incident has left investigators puzzled as to why such a bold murder occurred in broad daylight merely for a jacket.

They suspect that there might have been something valuable inside the jacket, leading to Gazi being targeted by the criminals.

After the assailants escaped, local residents quickly transported Gazi to a rural hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.

The police have initiated an investigation and alerted nearby police stations.

Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity as part of the inquiry. It remains unclear whether the victim had any political ties.

West Bengal has gained media attention recently due to similar assassination incidents occurring in broad daylight on public roads.

Earlier this year, in January, Dulal Sarkar, also known as Babla, a Trinamool Congress councilor from English Bazar Municipality in Malda district, was shot dead in a comparable fashion.

Another Trinamool Congress leader, Hasan Sheikh, was similarly killed in Kaliachak, also in Malda district, during the same month.
