New Delhi, Dec 7 (NationPress) It was a tragic weekend in the national capital as a businessman out enjoying a morning walk was shot dead and another individual who was stabbed by his neighbors during the midnight hours on Friday succumbed to his injuries early Saturday morning.
The murder of the businessman adds to the growing list of violent incidents in the national capital, which has seen a rise in crime rates.
Gunfire echoed through Shahdara's Vishwas Nagar on Saturday morning when unidentified assailants on a motorcycle shot and killed a businessman who was out for his morning stroll.
The tragic event occurred near the Yamuna Sports Complex as the victim, Sunil Jain (52), was making his way back home. Reports state that approximately nine rounds of ammunition were discharged at him.
Sunil was quickly transported to the hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
In the aftermath of the shooting, police from Shahdara arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.

DCP Shahdara, Prashant Gautam, confirmed the specifics of the incident. "At 8:36 A.M., a call was received by the Police Control Room indicating that two men on a motorcycle had shot a man and fled the scene. The target was Sunil Jain, who owned a utensil shop. We are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the crime scene to identify and apprehend the perpetrators," he stated.

Meanwhile, in Govindpuri, one individual was killed, and two others sustained injuries following a fight between two groups concerning the cleanliness of a shared toilet shortly after midnight on Friday.
Sudheer, his brother Prem, and their friend Sagar were rushed to AIIMS in the early hours of Saturday.
Unfortunately, Sudheer succumbed to his stab wounds, while the other two are receiving medical attention. Police reported that Sudheer was attacked with a kitchen knife, suffering wounds to his chest, face, and head.

The alarming nature of these killings and the rise in criminal activity have raised serious concerns regarding public safety and the effectiveness of law enforcement in Delhi.
These recent crimes are likely to spark significant political debates regarding the growing lawlessness, as the Delhi Police and local order fall under the jurisdiction of the Union Home Ministry.
The ruling party in Delhi, the AAP, is expected to leverage this situation in the upcoming Assembly elections.
