Amaravati, Jan 30 (NationPress) YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP P. Mithun Reddy declared his intention to combat false accusations of forest land encroachment directed at his family by the ruling coalition in Andhra Pradesh.
The Lok Sabha representative from Rajampet claimed that the TDP-led government is engaging in vindictive politics through a smear campaign.
Speaking to reporters in Delhi on Thursday, he asserted that targeting YSRCP leaders has become a routine for Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his allied media. “Our family is facing baseless accusations regarding alleged forest land encroachment. This is an outright falsehood,” stated Mithun Reddy.
He was responding to claims against his father, former minister P. Ramachandra Reddy, alleging that he unlawfully acquired forest land in Pulicherla mandal of Chittoor district.
Refuting these claims, Mithun Reddy stated that they possess all necessary documents and approvals from relevant authorities. He accused the TDP and its allied media of fabricating false claims without credible evidence.
He explained that the land was purchased in 2001, with a Gazette issued in 1968 confirming it was not forest land. The acquisition cost was Rs 4 lakh per acre, amounting to a total of Rs 3 crore.
“Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, who originates from our own Chittoor district and shares a political history with our father, has resorted to vindictive politics,” Mithun Reddy stated.
The YSRCP MP demanded that the coalition substantiate their allegations regarding the land title; otherwise, they should issue an apology. “Such cheap tactics will not dissuade us. We will return with renewed vigor to challenge the coalition for spreading these false narratives. Previously, they also made unfounded allegations concerning the Madanapalle files, which were never substantiated,” he remarked.
Ramachandra Reddy, currently a YSRCP MLA from Punganur, has already dismissed these allegations, labeling them as an “orchestrated negative campaign.”
The former minister asserted that the 75 acres of land in question were purchased in 2001. He noted that a declaration from the Director of Settlements in 1981 confirmed that this land was “not a forest land.” He also mentioned that the access road to his estate, although passing through a forest area, was constructed with the Central government’s permission.
Meanwhile, YSRCP Chittoor District President and former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy condemned the allegations against Ramachandra Reddy as completely unfounded and politically motivated. He voiced strong disapproval of false reports from certain media factions alleging illegal encroachment of forest land by Ramachandra Reddy.
