New Delhi, Feb 3 (NationPress) As India embarks on a revolutionary journey of Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration in the workplace, a recent study released on Monday indicates that 94 percent of professionals in the nation believe that honing AI skills will significantly enhance their career trajectories.
The research conducted by Emeritus, a pioneer in professional education, highlights that the incorporation of AI within workplaces is transforming career landscapes throughout India. It furthermore indicates that Indian professionals are at the forefront of global AI adoption.
This study is based on a survey involving over 6,000 respondents from 18 countries, aged between 21-65, across diverse sectors including finance, manufacturing, software, IT services, and education.
The findings reveal that 96 percent of Indian professionals actively utilize AI and generative AI tools at their jobs, which is considerably higher than the 81 percent in the United States and 84 percent in the United Kingdom.
Consequently, 95 percent of Indian workers report a rise in productivity attributable to these technologies, surpassing the global average.
“In the face of economic and technological shifts, it is imperative for the workforce to adapt and evolve by acquiring new skills, mindsets, and competencies,” stated Ashwin Damera, CEO and Co-Founder of Emeritus.
“The workforce in India is not just adjusting to AI but is also proactively leveraging it to redefine the future of work.
These results underline the resilience and forward-looking perspective of Indian professionals and their employers in utilizing AI as a catalyst for career advancement,” he added.
Indian professionals are focusing on AI skills to maintain a competitive edge, with 90 percent regarding AI and generative AI as vital for future career success, as per the report.
Furthermore, 94 percent consider expertise in AI crucial not just for career progression but also for diversifying across various industries—much higher than the global average of 87 percent.
Interestingly, machine learning ranks among the top five most in-demand skills in India, with professionals being twice as likely as their global peers to focus on it. The most desired skills include AI development and application, mastering emerging technologies, effective communication, Machine Learning, and strategic leadership.
The report further identifies four key trends reflecting how Indian learners view and utilize AI: increased AI adoption in India; prioritization of AI/Gen AI skills; the transformative effects of AI on workplaces; and concerns surrounding AI-induced job displacement.
