‘Harit Yoga’, a sustainability-focused initiative that integrates Yoga with tree planting and clean-up campaigns, is among the 10 hallmark events celebrating the 11th edition of International Yoga Day (IDY).
"Our well-being is deeply intertwined with the health of our planet. Just as Yoga nurtures our mind and body, tree planting fosters a healthier Earth, securing a verdant future for subsequent generations," remarked Jadhav during his address at the grand Yoga Mahotsav 2025 in Odisha's Bhubaneshwar.
He further noted that Yoga has seen remarkable growth in popularity over the past decade, evolving into a global movement.
The minister also emphasized the significance of sustainability and the environmental aspects of Yoga, aligning Harit Yoga with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’.
"This initiative motivates individuals to engage in tree planting as a symbolic gesture of caring for both personal and planetary health," stated the MoS.
He also celebrated the achievements of the ‘Prakruti Parikshan Abhiyan’, which successfully assessed the well-being of over 1.29 crore individuals, earning a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Yoga Mahotsav 2025 is set to catalyze a transformation in health and wellness, with India at the forefront of promoting Yoga as a lifestyle on a global scale.
To commemorate the launch of this signature event, Jadhav along with other dignitaries also planted medicinal plants. During the grand celebration, over 6,000 Yoga enthusiasts participated in the Common Yoga Protocol, designed to popularize Yoga practices such as Yoga Nidra, Pranayama, Dhyan, and more.
Meanwhile, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, commended the enthusiastic participation and noted that the 11th edition of IDY is anticipated to achieve record-breaking global engagement.
