New Delhi, Feb 13 (NationPress) The recent partnership between the Ministry of Ayush and Indonesia's Food and Drug Authority is set to enhance the quality of traditional medicines, stated Prataprao Jadhav, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Ayush on Thursday.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) established by the Ayush Ministry’s Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine and Homeopathy was part of multiple agreements exchanged between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on January 25 at Hyderabad House in New Delhi.
The MoU, which focuses on quality assurance in traditional medicine, is expected to raise international standards, as mentioned by Jadhav.
“This partnership will be essential in ensuring the safety, efficacy, and quality of traditional medicines, setting the groundwork for a more integrated and scientifically regulated approach to this significant healthcare system,” he remarked.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, pointed out that this strategic alliance will “enhance knowledge sharing, capacity building, and fortify the role of traditional medicine in global healthcare.”
The Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine and Homeopathy is IS/ISO 9001:2015 certified for Quality Management Systems (QMS) and is dedicated to setting and maintaining standards for Indian medicine and homeopathy.
The key elements of the MoU encompass the exchange of information and expertise on regulatory aspects of traditional medicine; capacity-building efforts like seminars, workshops, and training programs aimed at improving professional knowledge and skills.
Additionally, it includes technical visits to familiarize both parties with their respective regulatory processes; joint participation in international events concerning traditional medicine; collaboration on training programs for organizations involved in the traditional medicine sector; and broadening cooperation into other mutually beneficial areas.
The MoU represents a united vision for assuring the safety, efficacy, and accessibility of traditional medicine, paving the way for further collaboration between India and Indonesia and setting a precedent for other nations to adopt the integration of traditional medicine systems within modern healthcare frameworks.
