New Delhi, June 6 (NationPress) As part of the government's commitment to fostering self-reliance, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a navratna defence PSU, announced a partnership with Tata Electronics to advance indigenous electronics and semiconductor solutions.

The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signifies a notable progression for both BEL and Tata Electronics as they aim to collaboratively explore comprehensive solutions to address domestic needs, as indicated in a stock exchange filing by BEL.

Both entities will engage in a thorough examination of end-to-end collaboration in domains such as semiconductor fabrication (Fab), Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT), and design services.

The primary objective is to fulfill BEL's current and future demands for sophisticated components, including Microcontrollers (MCUs), Systems-on-Chip (SoCs), Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs), and various processors.

The MoU was formalized by Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of BEL, and Randhir Thakur, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Electronics, at the Bombay House, the headquarters of the Tata Group in Mumbai.

Both organizations will also strive to devise optimal manufacturing solutions for BEL’s products through the sharing of knowledge, best practices, and additional resources.

Tata Electronics stands as a significant global contender in the electronics manufacturing sector, rapidly evolving its capabilities in Electronics Manufacturing Services, Semiconductor Assembly and Test, Semiconductor Foundry, and Design Services.

Meanwhile, BEL has reported an 18% increase in net profit, reaching Rs 2,127 crore for the January-March quarter of the financial year 2024-25, compared to Rs 1,797 crore in the same quarter of the preceding year.

The company’s revenue from operations amounted to Rs 9,150 crore, representing a 7% rise from Rs 8,564 crore recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.

The board of directors of BEL has proposed a final dividend of Rs 0.90 per equity share for the financial year 2024-25.

In April, the defence PSU entered into a contract with the Indian Air Force worth Rs 593.22 crore for the provision of maintenance services for the Akash Missile System, marking the start of the financial year 2025-26.
